cleaning a beer engine
Bought a 2nd hand beer engine from Frisfur [Chris] of this parish. Although in a nice clean condition I want to give it a flush through before using. Any ideas what is the best solution to use.
Re: cleaning a beer engine
Beer line cleaner would be the best for the job I guess, these are detergent/sterilisers.
They usually contain a chlorine based bleaching agent and sodium hydroxide. I like to use it for cleaning my cornies sometimes, though am lucky that I stocked up before my folks retired from the pub game

Re: cleaning a beer engine
I know this is a post from a while ago but I recently bought a beer pump off fleabay and as I am quite anal when it comes to cleaning things I haven't previously owned, I decided to strip the thing right down to it's component parts to clean it out and to be quite honest I'm glad i did.
The amount of old brown beer gunge I found behind washers and in threads would have put anyone off drink for life. Some of the plastic has taken on a brown colour that seems to be ingrained but I don't think that is a problem. All spick and span now.
Happy boozing.
