I have bottles of wine that it's hard to let go of, coz of the glue residue. I figure around the 9th time they go through the dishwasher they'll come out shiny.

Hi

Only bottles I use with having given up trying to take off labels are :
- Punk IPA / 5am Saint (awful labels) but I like the bottle size for stronger brews.
- St Peters Brewery - (one side has hard-work label) but I like bottle shape.

Mostly its in the bottle box if it needs more than a soak in warm water.

=D> for Fullers beers, Magners/Bulmers ( my son drinks them, honest), German and most Belgian beers

I only keep Summer Lightning bottles.
Fill with boiling water, don't get any on the label as it will get soft.
30 seconds later, pick a corner free with finger nail, and slowly peel the label off in one piece.
Leaves no glue on the bottle.

Them brew dog bottles are easy to clean. Just pull off the label when empty then soak in hot water, quick rub with a scourer and done. I have a son who has a liking for them brews and I find them quite easy to clean up.

Hi Maltmaniac

Do you need to use a metal scouring pad or will the green plastic ones do?

For the trickier glues I still swear by using a stanley blade once the bottles are wet to scratch the gum off. It always amazes me how different beers get completely different glueing solutions???? Thwaites Wainwright remains the absolute worst in my eyes
