Could give unwanted tastes smells and hard to know the dilution rates that are appropriate, stains as well!

If you are going to use an idophor I'd suggest using one that others use, which means Videne or the Brupaks one (if it's still available).
If cost is an issue then thin supermarket "value" bleach is the way.

I had to pay about twice the price for it as I never had a prescription, OH works in the hospital I'll see if she can pick it up there.
