Hi All'
about a year ago I was kindly donated a beer barrel which is only a few years old. the problem is that it has quite a 'stale beer aroma' I have tried the usual sterilisers - to no avail - the aroma is still there.
Are there any suggestions on what steps I should take to deoderise a beer barrel? ... afterall it looks perfectly clean to the naked eye.
what 'bunker busting' or 'death juice' solution would you also recommend - i'd like to put it into service around March when the garage temp picks up as an addition to bottles.
Any help...,as always is greatly appreciated
cheers and thanks in advance otters'.

Re: Barrel cleaning
Fill it with oxy clean solution, let it sit for a couple of days, rinse it a few times then fill to the brim with fresh water and leave for a week before draining and air drying. Short of kill it with fire, that's your best bet.
Fermenting: Russian Imperial Stout experiment, Raspberry turbo cider, Wilko Rose wine, Plum wine
