Heard this is almost the same stuff as Starsan minus the foam, and 32oz is cheap

only less then twice the price of 8oz of starsan and you get 4x as much stuff, even if you have to use double the amount as some people say (its actually 2.7ml vs 1.7ml per litre so not really double) you still end up with way better value.
So any issues?
Any issues with Saniclean?
Re: Any issues with Saniclean?
I wouldn't get any again, the foam makes a big difference for me.
Let's all go home, pull on our gimp suits and enjoy life

Re: Any issues with Saniclean?
They're really aimed at different applications; the foaming helps in some cases but hinders in others. I use saniclean for running through my pumps and hoses; you can use starsan but it mainly turns to foam and bubbles which is more difficult to circulate. But for kegs and other manual type cleaning and spraying the foam helps cling to the sides, increasing contact time rather than just running off.
I get 16oz ones from the home brew shop and saniclean vs starsan is about £8 vs £12 IIRC, but as mentioned you use more saniclean so i reckon they work out at a roughly similar price. But you use so little that they last almost forever, so both are 'very' cheap per batch, if you can find a cheap source of suitable water to mix them with.

Re: Any issues with Saniclean?
My LCHB doesn't do star san sadly, oly VWP and youngs stuff, and the prices I seem to find for 16oz star san are about £20 online while 32oz Saniclean is £15 so I think ill get that, not fussed about foam clinging to sides as the contact time is so short I can just mix it around for a few minutes, compared to current stuff which is fill to top and leave for 15.Kev888 wrote:They're really aimed at different applications; the foaming helps in some cases but hinders in others. Yeah most local places just seem to do your basic combined cleaner/sanitisers, which is a pity because (for stuff thats already physically clean), the modern no-rinse sanitisers make life so much quicker/easier.
Not sure how much the postage charges compare with your other place but if its any use the home brew shop has online ordering and have a much wider range than most local places. I find I end up near enough to call in there maybe twice a year and the car always seems a lot heavier afterwards; in fact the first time I got some starsan I thought "right I'm not here often so I'll get three" - it then took me over a year to use about half of one :-/
