Cleaning/sanitising beerline

Post by Scooby » Wed Apr 18, 2007 4:21 pm

I've just read an article in BYO mag regarding cleaning lines and taps, it uses a carbonator cap attached to a soda bottle that becomes a pressure vessel and cleaner reservoir.

I was given a carbonator cap by a friend a while back, up 'till now I have only used it to keep my wifes tonic carbonated  The gas in disconnect fits the cap, you pressurise a 3/4 full bottle to 30psi, replace the beer out disconnect on the line to be cleaned/sanitised with an in disconnect, hook the bottle up invert it and open the tap 8)

What do you clean your lines with. I have just set up the kegerator and will flush them after the weekend. I have soda crystals, bleach and betadine.

Thanks Scooby. I’ve been trying to figure out an easier method of cleaning my beer lines and taps…I’ve seen this carbonation cap on H & G’s site and never thought of using it :? …brilliant.

What’s the best cleaner sanitiser to use for beer lines & taps, I use a solution of Brewmakers Bruclens which is a steriliser, cleanser & deodoriser left in for 10 mins followed by a goodly water rinse. Says can be used with stainless steel could it damage tap internals, I also use it in my corny’s?

Please tell if going to cause a problem

DaaB wrote:This probably wont supprise you Scooby but the order that John phoned me up about to tell me that it would be arriving a day late on Thursday (today) didn't arrive, had I known it wasn't being sent out I could have ordered one of those caps

(btw I told them last wednesday I was planning on brewing Tuesday  )
I missed this one DaaB and it's no supprise  I nearly replied saying don't worry you will have plenty of time to give them a ring and add it to your order :=P but thought better of it, after all Pasty is such a nice lady :=P

BTW placed an order with Beertech 11:54am Monday and received it 10:10am Tuesday 8)
