scrapes in fv due to spoon

Post by barry44 » Fri Dec 07, 2012 9:46 pm

Gents,

When inspecting my fv earlier, I noticed that I have a lot of scrapes in the bottom of it caused by stirring the wort, etc with the plastic spoon.

None look or feel particularly deep but needless to say I am concerned about infections caused by bacteria getting into the cracks and not being killed by the starsan I use.

Should I get a new fv, I use the coopers kit one, and if so, how can I avoid scratching the fv in such a manner in the future? I was not aware of damaging the fv at the time.

If it's on the bottom clean well with Oxy then leave a layer of Starsan for a longer contact time and Bobs your Uncle.
