Keg Stinks of VWP

Post by ErlofOrkney » Fri Jun 07, 2013 6:57 pm

I've just started fermenting Pilgrims hope by Festival and had planned to bottle it as i did my first batch of lager until i picked up a second hand plastic keg the other day and decided to give that a bash instead trouble is it was in need of a thorough clean so I filled it with a reasonably strong solution of VWP Steriliser and left it for a good few hours, I've rinsed it out maybe 5 or 6 times now but there is still a strong smell of the cleaner lingering and I'm worried that it will impair the taste if I use it. Is there any way I can get rid of this stench??

Cheers,

Erlend

Get some sodium met, it'll neutralise the chlorine in a few seconds.
Fermenting -!
Maturing - Lenin's Revenge RIS
Drinking - !
Next brew - PA
Brew after next brew - IPA
