How much vwp to clean a Fv

Post by sbond10 » Sat Oct 12, 2013 11:43 am

My friend gifted me a shed load of brewing items including 3 tubs of vwp cleaner.
So how do I use this to sterilise an Fv I normally fill an Fv to top and add 500ml of bleach and that usually does the trick.

Is this required with vwp or will 5 litres sloshed about for a period of time do ?

I use 2tsp in a gallon of warm water, lid on and shake it all about. Just remember if there's a hole in the lid for an air lock....

Yeah, when I used VWP I used to dilute about a tsp in 2 litres of warm water, then sanitise a new dish cloth and give the FV a good dowsing then stand for a bit and rinse. Now I use StarSan. I clean the FV, making sure there's no crud anywhere, then spray the whole of the FV with StarSan.
Best wishes
