Sodium Percarbonate advice please

Post by Chicken Dipper » Thu Jan 01, 2015 2:56 pm

I just got a pack of Brewsafe no rinse cleaner sanitiser and it says it's sodium Percarbonate. Does this actually need to be rinsed?

Yes, it is an ingredient in 5 Star's PBW and should be rinsed in similar temperature water used for cleaning, at least that is the instructions for PBW.

I had I quick google. I came across this, quite funny really
http://www.nationalhomebrewclub.com/for ... 94.15.html

Still no real positive answer, but I think the 10min soak is a pain IMHO
I'm gonna stick with the oxi (£1 or 99p shop) and then Star-San.
There are a few post about rinsing bottles after you pour the beer, then quick squirt of s-san and don a plastic cap, then your good to bottle up when ever you do the next brew. Although some said you can only do this about six times before they need a scrub with oxi or what ever cleaner you use.

Hope this helps

Edit, read this, it's the mds thing
http://www.themicrowinerycompany.com/wp ... 4-v1.0.pdf
But this is the bit I don't like from it.
Abiotic degradation
Air: Not applicable Water: Significant hydrolysis.
Degradation’s products: sodium carbonate, carbon dioxide, bicarbonate, carbonate,
hydrogen peroxide.
Soil: Hydrolysis. Potential for bioaccumulation: Non-bioaccumuable.

I can't help but feel that leaving a proven oxidiser in anything related to brewing would be a bad idea. So its a vote for rinsing here too!
