Made up a solution of 1ml in 625ml today. Put it in my spray bottle. Wasn't nearly as foamy as I'd expected... should I be worried? Should I test the pH and make sure I haven't made some daft error? If so, where can I get the pH strips?

It doesn't go very foamy, more like a really weak soap solution, a few bubbles if you shake it about a bit. If the solution is clear and not cloudy then you are probably ok but I had to test my Ph to be sure, too much at risk!

That's reassuring. I'm going to have to go with it as no way of testing the pH at present... eek!

So for fermenters do you chaps fill up with Starsan/water or just spray from a bottle?

100ml of star san and shake like crazy . . .generates clinging foam and covers the FV surface. . . .no more that 30 seconds contact time is 'required' although I tend to go for more like 5-10 minutes . . . not shaking more 'soaking'

Unused weeks . . . it's so cheap to use that I throw away after a single use.

Hi I'm thinking of a spray bottle, the contents are unused.

It is. I make up 5L at a time, and store it until needed
