It's not supposed to be healthy mineral water, it's just supposed to be cheap.
RO water is anything but cheap.

But many thanks for the heads up, it will be my new tipple from now on.

Despite it being said many times now cloudiness is not an issue, pH is the only important factor, 3 or under is the threshold of effectiveness.

Correct, but cloudiness is often an indicator that the pH is off, but it is not the only indicator.

My tapwater turns the solution cloudy straight away and I can't get the pH below 3.5 no matter what happens.

You could get some phosphoric acid and add to your water until it does, useful for water treatment in general you could add this string to the bow too. Excessive alkalinity is the problem and with mine up at 300 ppm yours must be even higher as I don't have to treat the tap water just use it straight.

I tried it with more star san, but it appears that at 3.4 a buffering effect was kicking in and it was not going any further, I have a pH meter and was just adding more star san to see could I get it to tip that way with more additions, it was not doing anything past 3.4.

These days I mix it up and use it once over a session, I am happy enough at 3.4 or so, but when I want to keep reusing it then I buy some deionised water and use that and keep it in storage that way and reuse.
