I sterilised a batch of bottles yesterday, ready to bottle up my AG#1.
Unfortunately 'work' got in the way. So i left the bottles with sod met in and the screwcaps on.
I'd really like to bottle up my brew tonight but don't fancy spending another 1-2hrs going through the whole rigmarole of sterilising again. Unless i have to.
Will the sod met have kept them good enough? They are about a third full and still all have an amount of condensation up them-just like when i first put the sod met in. Could i give them a shake and then pour away and fill?
They were new bottles and had an hour of sterilising before a rinse and then partially filled with sod met. The screwcaps were then screwed on and given a good shake.
Yesterdays sterilised bottles
Bleach is a bit of a no no for me-i have no-where to dispose of it so i'd have to store it and take it into town to dispose of. I can't pour it down my drains as it would kill my bio-cycle.
I rinsed(v quickly) with sod met. But then the first 8 brews i done i only used sod met to sterilise with and had no prob's.
but Sods law will probably kick in here and ruin my first AG batch.
But then if nasties managed to get in the bottle with the screwcap done up and third full with sod met, then survived a quick rinse with sod met there's not a lot i could do
Anyhow, my AG#1 is now bottled up.

Nope. You've put me right on that one already DaaB.DaaB wrote:As long as you aren't relying on sodium met.

If we have bleach in the house it inevitably ends up being poured down the toilet. Which kills off the bacteria in my septic tank. Resulting in the worst smell in the entire universe flooding my house till i call 0800SHITMEN(i kid you not!) to come empty my tank.
