I have a plastic coopers carboy I use for my kits - none have gone bad yet and i have been cleaning with VWP (with a thorough rinse after) immediately after bottling.
Last week i switched to Soda and thin bleach after deciding that VWP is a bit too intense for my needs...
After trying all three products (with a good long scrub with a soft sponge and a soak in the solution) I have found a lingering "beer" smell from the fermenter once it has dried : it doesnt smell sour, but it's not the most pleasant of smells. However, right after rinsing it smells completely fine (ie no odour)
Have I been cleaning incorrectly ? I am only on my third batch and am hoping this wont taint the beer. I'd rather not have to buy another fermenter so soon after starting out !
