Clean your beerline/ tap after every session?

Post by Kanemadly » Mon Feb 18, 2008 12:15 pm

This may be a stupid question, but I am new to cornie kegs, so I will ask it anyway :)

I have just purchased my first cornie keg and chrome tap setup off Norm on eBay. The tap seems to have a small tap on it, to close off the line, and I guess that stops air getting back into the keg and oxidising/ spoiling the beer. I do not want to spolit a whole keg off beer though through poor santiation, hence the following question.

Do you need to clean/sanitise your beerline and tap after every session using the keg?

What cleaning routine does everyone else follow when using cornie kegs?

Cheers;
Andy

I clean my lines every 2-3 weeks or when I change a keg over. I have four beer lines and the beer and lines are all refrigerated so perhaps would go off slower than at room temp.

WOW! That looks the business Steve. Now if only I can find the space for a chest freezer....hmmm....... :)

Sadly our house is too small or that, but I do have a very cold understairs cupboard (around 10-12c most of the time), so perhaps I could be ok for a couple of weeks or so.

Am I right in thinking that if the beer does go stale, due to the pressure inside the keg, any nastiness will only ever end up in my glass and not back in the keg?
