Hello all,
I've had two kit brews that have failed to secondary ferment (completely flat).
I've always made sure there's been enough yeast in the bottling bucket to ensure that there should be enough to prime correctly and my brewing sugar has been measured correctly at 80g per 23l (and mixed in the bottling bucket after being sanitized in boiling water).
My question is, is my rinsing of VWP sanitised bottles not good enough - could this mean the VWP is killing off the yeast when bottled? I understand it's quite an aggressive sanitizer.
The two brews in question have had a rather distinct TCP taste which would lead me to assume the VWP is coming into play (i.e. chlorine)?
A few previous brews have been bottled fine and primed well and my procedures haven't varied greatly.
Will I have more success with my recently purchased Starsan?
Jonny
