Boiler Elements

Post by SiHoltye » Tue Mar 18, 2008 10:58 pm

Hello,

I have H&G's 10G boiler with 2 stainless elements.

One boiler element (the one I use most) now looks like copper. The other is a dull grey colour. Was planning to try oxiclean to clean them up, wondered why they went these 2 different colours in the first place?

Do you know the scourers that are like that but have a white plasticcy scouring side suitable they say for non-stick pans, that's what I use. I don't scrub much and not uniformly as the copper colour is, I wondered if it was something to do with my starting using CRS as the timing is coincidental. The copper coloured one is used more as it's the one on during the boil, the other (dull grey) one is only on for heating up faster. Any more thoughts? If not nay bother.

My H&G elements are also starting to take on a varigated appearance (copper and silver), strangley though the copper is coming through on parts of the element (ie tight in against the bucket) where i can't actually get my scrubby so that can hardly be to blame (in my case).

that would make sense, i'll ease back on the scrubbing anyway.
