Going to be using Iodophor today :-)

Post by Big Al » Sat Jun 13, 2009 9:04 am

Finally got my Iodophor today, just now need to get a water spray and away I go.
Am looking forward to steralizing my bottles in double quick time today :-)

Believe I just need to put about 6ml of the solution into a litre of water and spray away.
Not I dont have a bottling tree so can I just invert the bottles for a few seconds to clear enough residue to make it safe to
fill the bottles??

Just a qeury with this Iodophor stuff.
I sprayed each bottle 3 times, left it for about 30 seconds and then poured it out.
Thing is I could still smell the Iodophor in the beer bottles as I was about to fill them up.
is this normal :?:

I mixed 0.6ml of Iodophor to 1 litre of water which I believe is the correct consistency.

My personal preference is to give things a quick rinse after using Iodophor...
I've not used it on bottles yet, but I'm finding it very handy for everything else.

I Iodophor my cornies with a 12ml in 10L water solution upright for 10mins, then inverted for 10mins, pressurising to squirt out the long dip tube before emptying. Like Chris-x1 suggests on occassion you can smell the iodine, but as long as you used the correct no rinse dilution don't worry it won't taint your beer.

ive been using this but didn't add any citric acid to the water.only a batch of TC though not 23 litres of beer.hopefully it will be fine.
ASDA smart price water and adding 1/2 a tsp of citric acid which will reduce the ph
i do have some citric acid so will use some next time. i take it you would add the same amount, 1/2 tsp per litre, to tap water? so is it fine to fill up a jug add the citric acid, stir it in and then add the idophor and mix again?
