another bottle cleaning question

Post by sam c » Sun Jul 05, 2009 6:16 pm

i know this question or a similar one has been asked before so sorry but was wondering if anyone acyually does this or thinks it ould work.

i ve just taken a bottle out of the dishwasher that previously had cider in it and had been drunk and left for a couple of days so was quite dirty. however it came out completley clean inside and out.

i would usually clean my bottles with soda crystals, rinse well and then sanitize with non rinse idophor.

i was wondering if i could possible miss out the soada crystal bit by sticking them all in the dishwasher for the cleaning part and then sanitize as per usual?

I think the general concensus of opinion is that you can't guarentee that the dishwasher water jets will get into the entire inner surface of the bottle. Further to this, there's a chance that the rinse might not get it all back out and the rinse-aid used to make glasses shiny is a head-retention killer. I've heard of the drying cycle being used to sanitise pre-washed bottles but other than that I think dishwashers are generally out.
