SULPHITE / SULPHATE

When talking about Campden tablets or the powdered form of sodium or potassium met. I have always thought it is sulphite not sulphate. I have seen it with the spelling of ph or f. Regardless of which spelling, which is the correct name. What other products are we naming in correctly?

I always thought it was sulphate but i just looked on the packet and it is sulphite :oops: -- learn something new everyday -- I have edited my prev post to sulphite

The Royal Society of Chemistry now use the rubbish spelling of sulfur.
The QCA have also adopted the sulfur variant, probably because kids today would find writing an extra letter to be an abuse of their human rights...
