Here are some brief notes on no-rinse sanitisers.

StarSan

Available from home brew suppliers.
Works best at low carbonate and pH levels. Easiest method is to use Asda Smartprice water.
No-rinse strength: 300ppm

Usage: 1.6 ml/l gives 300ppm

Iodophors

This includes Videne, Betadine, Brupaks Idophor and BTF Idophor.
Work best at lower pH levels. Citric acid can be used to lower the pH.
A made-up solution loses its effectiveness over time. The colour of the solution is an indicator of how effective it is.
No-rinse strength: Between 12.5ppm and 25ppm

Videne and Betadine
Betadine is no longer available - Videne is a direct replacement.
Videne comes in three types. Use the "Antiseptic Solution". Most chemists and pharmacy counters will order this for you.

Usage: 1.25 ml/l gives 12.5 ppm.

Brupaks Iodophor
Available from home brew suppliers. Rumoured to be discontinued by Brupaks at time of writing (Oct 2010)

Usage: 0.6 ml/l gives 12.5 ppm

BTF Iodophor
Available from farm suppliers and vets. Make sure you use the version without lanolin.

Usage: 0.78 ml/l gives 12.5 ppm
