sterliising bottle tree?

Post by andyswallet » Thu May 26, 2011 7:20 am

If I use Star San to sterilise my bottles, can I just hang them on my bottle tree to drain if I have rinsed my bottle tree with tap water (it's generally "clean" anyway)?

Or should I be giving the bottle tree a squirt all over with Star San aswell?

Just trying to remove some of the pain from bottling!

I normally throw all my bottles into a builders trug with star san, the bottle tree also gets dunked into the same trug before use, you can spray it all over if you wish with star san, but in any case I'd consider wetting it with star san somehow.

I've never done anything special with my bottle tree.

I'd just presumed that any part of the bottle coming into contact with the tree would have some no rinse sanitiser left on it to not be a problem.

No issues so far.

I invert my bottles into the open holes of plastic-bread-tray when they are sanitized, that way they don't touch anything.
I doubt your bottle tree will pose many problems, but I'd ensure it was clean and give it a good sanitize itself before using it.
