I'm intrigued to find out how you all do this.
I use a cheapo Argos kettle element and it gets covered in a hard dark brown deposit after every brew.
I've tried
Oxy
Limescale remover
Caustic Soda
Mr Muscle oven cleaner Sodium Hyperchlorite
All work to some degree but I would like to refine this process so what do you all do?

I clean it off with a nylon pan scrubber while it's still damp.

A toothbrush is sufficient. Stainless steel scourer is quick. For old scaled up elements, take them out at leave them in vinegar or diluted limescale remover.

I add a generous helping of citric acid (prob 5 tsp) to the boiler and add in enough boiling water to cover the element. I angle the boiler so that I can use less water. 24 hrs later I use a scourer and it lifts off really easily. Comes up like new!
