Also, if it has an S30 or pin valve, check that the rubbers on that are still rubbery, and not getting hard or corroding onto the valve body. Ditto for the tap washer.
The plastic isn't completely impervious, so as mentioned do the best you can with strong sanitisers. I'd probably soak it overnight in a hot percarbonate based homebrew cleaner (or other combined cleaner/sanitiser) to remove any organic residues, and then it hit with a decently strong disinfectant; a good strong bleach mixture perhaps (at up to 50ml per L for the basics/value unscented thin bleach) for a few hours and rince 'very' well afterwards.
