I am trying to
Blitz some dirty donated bottles before sticking with the 'rinse with hot water and spray with saniclean' method for the future.
But after soaking my bottles overnight in hot water with oxiplus I cannot get it rinsed. Held up to the light there is a clear grainy matter still there and a white powder on drying. Very hot water will not remove this no matter how many times I rinse or how hot!
Any thoughts ?
Cheers John

Re: Bottle cleaning ... Again ... Oxiclean issues
I've had it before and just bottled anyway.
It didn't impact the flavour in any way. I believe it is just CaCO3 as I have very hard water. What is your water profile like?
If you really must remove it look at something acidic .

I added white vinegar to bottle, shook the hell out of it, poured into next, rinsed with clean water, then sanitised as normal. I only ever got it with overnight soak. A couple of hours was fine

Oxy, a bit like soda, will stick to the bottom of the bottle if you leave it for too long, say overnight.
A bottle brush will shift it.

+1 on the bottle brush, sometimes a soak just isn't going to do the trick and you have to brush the bloody things.Blackaddler wrote:

Thanks for replies. Mega hard water.
I've tried a bottle brush but it's a bit naff and just left wire type lines in the sides. It shifted some but not enough and everytime you swill it just leaves more grainy stuff in the bottom ... Perhaps if I have it more
Elbow grease...
I won't be using it again as it's been a ball ache.
