It only takes a few minutes to brings them to a boil so I always have done so and it is just another part of the brewing and bottle regimen. Or you could just soak them in StarSan for a minute. Why not its easy?

I have a bottle sprayer thing that rinses the bottles with starsan, and just chuck the caps in with that. Its something like 1.3ml in a litre of starsan right? 1L prob overkill for caps anyway!
