Camden Tablets and Bleach

I've been given a 1 gallon Demi John that was full of gunk,so I've left it soaking in bleach and water.Can I just rinse this out with hot water or do I need to add anything to kill the bleach

I always rinse with campden solution to remove any chlorine taint.
Unless you like TCP flavours in your beer that is

Do I just add I Camden tablet to a gallon of water,or am I better off making more up.Also do leave to soak or just rinse it a few times.thanks

I'd use Oxy to clean as Bleach isn't a cleaner.

1/2 a campden is enough for something like 8 Galleons of water

I tried oxy clean on new Demi John and it left a hard white residue on the inside.cheers for the advice though

You left it too long then!

Left it for 24 hours. Managed to get film off with a rag taped to a length of a cane and a drill.

Bleach drives up pH. I assume that your water has significant hardness? The elevated pH can cause the calcium carbonate to plate onto the surfaces of the vessel. Swishing a strong acid around the vessel can remove that film.

I'll give it a try next time thanks for the advice. Best bit,just walked in shed and knocked over the sparkling clean Demi John and smashed it.
