I am going to make myself an immerssion cleaner using a 10m roll of 8mm copper pipe.
Given that there a lot on here who have also made one, can anyone advise what to use to clean the copper for the first time as i assume that there will be some sort of grease on it when i get it from the shop.
Any advice will be greatly received.

Re: cleaning copper for the first time
Here's a good related conversation: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=58553&hilit=+lemon+juice
As I said then, I've had excellent results from lemon juice (citric acid.)
Good luck!

Many thanks Seymour for your assistance.
Apparently citric acid is hard to buy over the counter due to the tendency to cut drugs with it!!
Would PBW or oxiclean be a good substitute?

I've never had a problem buying citric acid for brewing purposes, or lemons for that matter
Re: cleaning copper for the first time
Gave it a clean with pbw followed with a good few rinses.

I even heard of people using tomato sauce, enough acid in there and its a nice consistency to work with believe it or not.
CItric or vinegar work good.
