Cleaning my beer lines

Post by CJR » Mon Jul 29, 2013 3:24 pm

Hi everybody,

Before I go and invest in a gallon of Purple for my line cleaning, I'm wondering if this will work. 2% solution of Antiformin S in a cornie, fill each line and leave for a few hours, flush with water. I'm not sure of the line cleaning powers of Antiformin S.

Cheers,

CJR

P.S. Does anybody know what the S stands for in Antiformin S?

my take on line cleaning is to clean the line/tap when i change/clean the keg.

my reasoning is this, unlike a pub which changes a keg more frequently possibly more frequently than the lines are cleaned in many cases, my kegs connect up to clean and sterile lines and remain sealed until the keg is disconnected so its a closed system with positive presure, Nothing is getting in :)

s i use the keg of oxy to clean the line and after flushing with water i run starsan thru and leave that i9n the line until the next keg is attached. its pushed out as the first 1/4 pint :)

tap nozzels however are a possible breeding ground as they get flushed with beer each pour and are then left exposed to the atmosphere, 2 of mine screw off these i clean by unscrewing and soaking in a mild bleach solution, the ones that dont unscrew i squirt warm claener/steriliser/rinse up with a squirty bottle.
Id like to say betwen each pour but im not that good ;)
