Cleaning a CFC with strimmer line?

Post by Hogarth » Thu Aug 01, 2013 5:52 pm

Okay, so I read on the web somewhere that you could push a length of strimmer line all the way through your CFC, tie a piece of rag to the other end, and pull it back to give the inner pipe a proper clean. So I dutifully bought 10m of strimmer line, and tried pushing it through. Even with lashings of soapy water I managed to get two metres of it in before it jammed. :(

Has anyone else tried this -- and succeeded -- or have I simply fallen for a load of old cock?

You could try pigging it. Cut a bit of foam off a sponge pad, jam it in the end (making sure it isn't too tight) and then what the mains onto the end. Should push it through to clean it. Of course the risk is if it doesn't make it all the way through...
