Iodophor - how much?

Post by drmick » Thu Nov 07, 2013 10:11 pm

Hi All

going to be bottling 200+ bottles of cider at the weekend and need to sterilise/sanitise the bottles. I have a bottle of Brupacks Iodophor which I always used to use but haven't done any alcohol making for almost two years so couple of questions - will it still be effective? Or does the iodine go off with time. Secondly what amount do you use, I did have a post on here bookmarked but the page seems to have been deleted - I remember it being 0.6ml in a litre of water but thought should check on here first as don't want to go to the trouble of bottling all the cider only for it to be attacked by something nasty in the bottles (nastier than the cider that is).

Thanks

Michael

I don't think it goes off but maybe aim at the 25ppm end of the scale just to be sure:

Or use it stronger and rinse it....

Thanks - will make it at the higher end of the scale to be on the safe side.
