chemipro oxi - household alternatives?

Post by fluff34567 » Sat Feb 22, 2014 12:39 pm

Started with my first brew yesterday and surprised when I used the oxi cleaner / steriliser. . Reminded me so much of vanish powder.

I saw refetence to w5 oxi. Can this be used Instead for cleaning and sterising equipment ?

Short answer a lot of people use the pound shop version I believe someone will be along to explain the finer details or just scroll down the page and you'll find topics covering it

Yep, nearly exclusively use the poundshop oxide for soaking fv. Use with hot water, removes nearly all gunk. Don't totally trust it for sanitizing, so still use starsan for that
Just like trying new ideas!

I use the W5 oxy cleaner - just make sure you rinse away all traces of it thoroughly after use, as it contains enzymes which have the potential to carry over into your beer and affect it.

Cheers
