I do a bleach soak of all plastic things every once in a while. No idea if it is needed, but I've only ever had one infection from a rogue hop that got stuck in tap. Other than that I just use star san, I probably overuse it but it is so cheap it doesn't matter. I also use it on my homegrown tomatoes/apples etc, they last for weeks then :)

I'm happy to use starsan as no-rinse at its designated dilution, both on health grounds and wrt any residue not killing our intended yeast. However, for similar reasons I no longer trust it alone to kill wild yeast. For me, its an extremely useful on-the-fly disinfectant, particularly wrt its diluted shelf life in a squirty-bottle, but only for equipment that is already spotlessly clean and previously disinfected by bleach (or another effective yeast killer).
