I bought a new laptop with Win 11 in December and I don't have any problems with Beer Engine, it displays and works just as it did with my old laptop, so I am not sure what could be causing your issue.

Looks perfect oz11. Very strange. A mate of mine is a whizz with IT. Perhaps I'll invite him round to have a look--in exchange for a few beers, of course!

It appears the problem might be the character sets used in Windows 11 being different to earlier versions. The two top lines of the display, and in windows for both Fermentable Ingredients and Hop Varieties have different characters to the set used for the rest of the display, and potentially requiring more space in Windows 11.

I don't know if there might be an easy fix should this be the case.

EDIT. Just seen this.........

What resolution is your screen? I have 3840x2400 OLED laptop and 99% of stuff displays perfectly with the window scaling I have set though a couple of programs produce popups that think 12pt unscaled for the message must be OK #-o

Running MXlinux here so not a Windows expert.

Guy: Have you tried this?

https://github.com/jimbob88/wheelers-wort-works/wiki

It is an "updated" version of BeerEngine and may handle some newer stuff a bit better? I've only tried it on Windows 10.

Thanks Peebee

My IT savvy mate is going to link into my machine tomorrow to try and sort this out.

If Graham's Beer Engine can't be made to work I'll try the one you've linked to.

Does it allow a calculation of mash and total efficiency as Beer Engine does? And is it possible to print the recipe out?

Thanks.

IT'S WORKING!!!!!

I've got Beer Engine working all by myself. Very pleased, and I can show off to my IT mate when he rings later this morning!

The solution? Right clicked the desktop icon>properties>compatibility. The 'Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution' box was ticked. I thought I'd see what happened if I turned it off. Hey presto--perfect display. Right size, properly laid out.

All is as it should be and no need to look for another beer recipe programme.

I'm sure Graham would have been proud of you.

Seems to be scaling settings that you can adjust..

You are so wrong, Mashy! Didn't you read my earlier post where I explained it was a compatibility issue with the screen resolution?

Probably not.

Do try to keep up!
