I've used quite a few different bits of software on different platforms and have now settled upon Brewers Friend

Its US based and has loads of good features, the main one for me is I can use it anywhere on any platform as it is web based.

I had an active account there at some time, I found entering custom fermentables very problematic. And I didn't like the idea of separate recipe lists for us and metric units. Other than that it was fine.

Well its been updated quite a bit, maybe give it another go! I'm not sure that there is still separate lists for metric and imperial, I have had no problem working in metric

I was going to use it, but I had invested time into the trial version of beersmith2 and couldn't get my recipes/inventory exported. So I just purchased the full version of beersmith2. It does look very good from the time I spent exploring it though.
