pdtnc's C.N.S Hops²

I'm currently drinking my first taste of someone else's home brew and I have to say it's very nice! A lovely deep amber/red colour, good carbonation giving a nice head with lacing that lasts all the way down the pint. The aroma is as fruity as you'd expect from the recipe, the taste is even better with a good bitterness balancing the flavour of the hops, the carbonation is perfect for this giving a nice fizz on the tongue. I'll be upset when I've finished it - very impressed indeed, something to aspire to with my brewing. Cheers mate :D

Lugsy's AG#14 American Amber

Opened with a nice psssf.
Smells caramelly and a bit of a yeasty aroma.
Tastes good, lots of body and good flavour, nice work.
Nice colour too, and good subtle level of carbonation.

What hops / recipe was it?

Glad you liked it, I pretty much stole the recipe off you!

21 litres

Maris Otter 78%
Munich 15%
Caramunich III 7%

Citra 15g 60 minutes
Nelson Sauvin 20g 60 minutes
Simcoe 25g 60 minutes
Citra 20g 0 minutes
Nelson Sauvin 30g 0 minutes
Simcoe 40g 0 minutes

US05 at ~20C

OG 1.057
FG 1.010

It's a bit sweet I think, next time I'll up the bittering and drop the OG or add some sugar to thin it if I make it this strong.

Cool :) Yeah a bit more bitterness would lift it nicely.

Yes, I've been a bit tame with my bittering additions so far. I thought this one would have been a bit closer to the mark but it looks like I need to step it up another notch or two.

Simple One's NSD (North South Divide) viewtopic.php?f=24&t=42753

Smells good
Tastes good
is good.

You can actually tell there is another hop underlying, must be the EKGs, a good balanced beer with lots of Aroma and and flavour with a base of rounded earthy hopping, cracking pint :)

Cheers, I enjoy it too. I found it amazing how the dark crystal really imparts loads of body and flavour compared to crystal built up to the same colour. Glad you enjoyed it.

Ok my first members brew review.

Nelson Sauvin hopped wheat beer by PDTNC (Ade)

Image

I think this one has been in the bottle for over 4 weeks - and it shows. Very nice colour - and a good head.

The overwhelming taste was grapefruit - very citrussy. How the hell to you get the hops to come out so well???

I saw that you put the late additions in at 5 mins. I usually go for the 15 mins addition. I'll have to try your method Ade.

A bloody nice pint - I'm not sure it would be ok for a full session - this is one is for sipping and enjoying on special occasions. :=P :=P :=P

Thanks for that :)
Its getting better the longer its left, I think it will actually benefit from a month of maturation.
If you really want more hops, throw a load in at either Flameout or 80c Steep for 20-30mins.

Cheers Ade - I'll try that - it will be a cracker if you leave it longer. (Not that it isn't now.)

Edit - wrong smileys - looked like I was not liking it!!!

Simco999's Citra Weisse, great beer, very enjoyable.

This has a lovely silky mouth coating body that suits the beer well, excellent flavour and subtle aroma.

I shall look forward to trying the other bottle :)
