Hi there, I have got 23 litres of lager on the go, I've added 1 kilo of brewing sugar and topped it up with water.
Once the fermentation process is complete and the brew is decanted into a clean barrel for bottling, I was told to add sugar to each bottle.
Question,
Can I add this sugar to the brew rather than each bottle ?
If so does it get decanted into my bottles straight away or do I leave it before bottling & if so how long.
Cheers

Personally I think it's easier to add the total amount of sugar to the barrel you're bottling from, syphon in the beer, give it a gentle stir and bottle immediately.

If you're moving to a barrel for bottling then I'd add the sugar there. If you make a syrup out of the sugar by boiling it with some water for a few minutes you can add that to the barrel first and it'll be nice and mixed by the time the beer is siphoned on top.
Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.
