(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

I have been doing some research and found that United utilities are very good at giving water information in their area.
Try
THIS to find out how good your water is if you are in the UU catchment area

Unfortunately, UU give values for just about everything under the sun apart from Alkalinity, the main one we need. I have been trying to get them to supply me with a figure but not really getting anywhere. It is a shame really because their test figures are updated every few days so should be fairly accurate

Did you click the "Click here to view the detailed report" near the top my water has a reading of.
Hydrogen ion (pH)
7.40 min
7.78 Average
8.17 Max
9.5 reguatory standard
72 samples taken
I dont think you could ask for a more detailed report as it has pretty much everything that is in the water in the detailed report.

That is not quite the same thing. I just tried ringing them about 30 mins ago and the woman asked why I wanted that figure, I said beer brewing and she said they can only supply information on the drinking quality of their water. I informed her that they must have it somewhere as it is one of the values they are required to monitor under UK legistlation but she got angry (women eh!). I will keep tryng
