treating water

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

ok so ive read through the thread on here about how to treat your water but still am a little unclear about someting. i understand how to work out how much CRS to use so thats sorted.its just the gypsum.

"Simply fill your HLT with water, add 2 good teaspoons of gypsum for every 25L and boil for 20 mins. Allow to cool over night and rack of the water from the sediment. You'll probably need to do this in two batches so you'll need to find a container which you can allow the first batch to cool in while you start the next. "

so if i do this the night before in two batches can i also add the CRS and crushed camden tablet now in the correct quantities so that all the water is ready to go the next day? also do i need to add a further tsp of gypsum dirrectly to the boil?

ah i see. i misunderstood that these were two different techniques.

so if using CRS should i add CRS to my sparge water aswell or is this not needed?

thanks
