HELP ALKINLINITY CONVERSION

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

HELP ALKINLINITY CONVERSION

Post by fisherman » Fri Jul 24, 2009 2:18 pm

Hello ,
Thanks for your advice CHRIS X 1 on alkilinity. I have done what you suggested and bought the Salifert testing kit. I have done the test and it came out with a reading of 0.70 Reading in mls. Could anyone convert this into the amount of CRS I need to add to 26 litres of brewing water. I will get it right one day with help. What would I do without friends.

Thanks Chri x1,
You have been a real help, brewing for so long now we have CRS a godsend. I used to mash I still have my Bruheat and mash bag sparging bucket maybe getting the liquor right will encourage me to mash again, At the moment I am useing a kit with 1 kilo spraymalt + 1lb dem suar hops boiled seperate for 15 mins and added. Nice beer. I had so many disasters mashing due to water quality I can see why we never had a brewery in Coventry. maybe on one of my orders for ingredients i'll include 3 kilo's of pale malt. cant thank you enough.
