Prohibition Kit (sloe gin)

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

Hi

Started this kit today and within an hour it has pushed all the water out of the air lock and was foaming over, is this normal ? can i stop it ? will it do any harm to the brew ? please help if you can by answering all 3 questions and please give me some advice.

Don't worry about it it will be fine, it's quite normal for high alcohol yeasts to foam up at the beginning, next time use something a bit bigger to ferment in to stop the foam going everywhere.
