Fullers ESB

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

Barney

I don't have a profile but, if you use this Calculator you can select Bitter and work from the profile given using your water profile.

Wow Sllimeel _ I am now stressed about my water quality #-o

Looks like with very soft water I need to be at least adding salt and gypsum to most brews......in very small quantities...

For 40l water I need 4.5g table salt, 7.5g calcium sulphate, 15g Calcium chloride, 4g epsom salts, 1.5g chalk

Am I that anal I ask myself? ](*,)

Thanks for the replies, I have started to use the calculator. My water quality is great, thanks united utilities, its lovely and soft, very soft. That's great for the Mrs doing the laundry as it saves on washing powder, its far from ideal for making beer though.

I find that the additions take less than a minute of my time, which in a brew session is relatively little. I hope that my efforts will transfer through to the beer. I should know in a month or two.
