(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

...240 mg/l CaCO3 here in Brighton. Just did a test using one of these:

Sounds like you're right in the middle for amber to red/pale brown beers. Probably want to reduce carbonates to get the best out of your golden/blonde beers? Maybe even add a little chalk for stouts.

Update on this. Did another test and got 223 mg/l CaCO3.

Don't suppose anyone knows the magnesium levels in Brighton?
Can't find it on southern water's mineral levels document.
