My Water Testing

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

My Water Testing

Post by barneey » Mon Nov 03, 2014 3:51 pm

I thought with the recent very wet weather I would get my water tested again.

So on the 14th February 2014 & 25th October 2014

PH = 7.24 - 6.97
Conductivity, uScm-1 = 685 - 675
Sodium Na,mg/l = 24.1 - 24.1
Potassium K, mg/l = 2.7 - 2.4
Magnesium Mg, mg/l = 4.4 - 4.7
Calcium Ca, mg/l = 131 - 127.2
Chloride Cl, mg/l = 42.7- 43.8
Nitrate NO3, mg/l = 41.3 - 40.1
Phosphate PO4, mg/l = 2.4 - 1.4
Sulphate SO4, mg/l = 30.3 - 28.1
Alkalinity CaCO3, mg/l = 264 - 265
Total Res Chlorine Cl2, mg/l = .2 - .06

So a few changes but for me the change of weather hasn't changed things significantly. (at the moment), will still continue to measure the Alkalinity & a few others on brew day to make sure nothing is out of place.

Good stable results those, Clive - similar stability to mine I'd say, hardly shifted in 2 years. By the way, where did you get your analysis done?
Best wishes

I have started to use an Analytical Chemist to carry out my water testing, for which you get all the listed figures (including Sodium) etc... for approx. £25.00, so you get everything needed to play around with either Grahams or the Bru n water Calculators, I`ll PM you the details of the Chemist.

Cheers

Barneey, is your water analysis more detailed than Murphys' one?
Thanks

Is this a professional business or just someone you know? Would be interested in more details if they deal with the general public.

Hey Barneey!
I think a few of us would like to get our water tested. Is sharing their website data here against forum etiquette? If it is ok to post their info maybe you could get yourself a referrals commission !

Hi forum etiquette really requires any homebrew supplier to post simply in this section viewforum.php?f=43 it will then be OK`d by Admin / Mods.

In the meantime I can let you have the details via PM.

Hi Barneey, just found your replies on water testing.

i use BruNwater, and have used the results from the local water company.

i too would appreciate the company to have a water test, as the local water company does not seem too interested at present to update the profile.

Best regards,

Lockwood 16
