Measuring Sulphate in Water

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

Measuring Sulphate in Water

Post by PeeBee » Tue Mar 11, 2025 3:10 pm

Always bothered me that there was no Salifert kit for measuring "sulphates". Recently I accidentally came across a post by A.J. De Lange ... "it is impossible to measure sulfate accurately without a nephelometer or photometer" (nephelometric turbidity method, by measuring the light scattering of a barium sulfate suspension?).

So, no Salifert kit. Useful to know?

You don't seem to be able to get kits for "chlorides" either?
