Camden Tablets

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

Camden Tablets

Post by Beer Terrorist » Thu Jul 03, 2008 9:09 pm

I realise camden tablets should be used before brewing but I found this statement on the internet: "After fermentation one campden to each gallon preserves the beer while conditioning for several weeks in casks"

Will it also remove any chlorine from the beer or does it have a different affect in alcohol? The reason I ask is that I have a beer that is tainted I would like to try to sort it.

I've seen metabisulfate (Metab tablets) being added to cask beer as a preservative in a fair sized West Country brewery.
