Methylorange Indicator

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

Methylorange Indicator

Post by SiHoltye » Sat Dec 06, 2008 1:58 am

Methylorange indicator, de-ionized water, and CRS seem to be the constituent parts of the alkalinity testing kit that is talked about around these parts.
Being a disorganised person I've mislaid the indicator and instruction page kindly sent to me earlier in the year (hope the sender doesn't read this  ). Can the helpful folk on here source any indicator for me, and a copy of the instructions please, pretty please?

Background to this post:
I've noticed my tap water alkalinity in 2008 has varied between 52 and 117 according to my report  an unspecific average of 82mg/l HCO3 across 121 tests - gee ta. Requiring between 3ml and 11.5ml per 30L for bitter profile  .
Can't live with this and so want to test the HLT contents before each brewing. Last brew I did I added CRS in line with 82mg/l HCO3 and mash ph was 4.8-ish, boo.

Many thanks in advance.

Dam... you could insist on payment upfront... which I think is more than fair. I wouldn't expect to receive anything without payment first. Maybe paypal. Charge a little more so your not out of pocket, and there is nothing wrong with making a little profit to cover your time. I reckon they would still fly out. [-o< Ask the question in a poll!

Chris,

Do you have a PayPal account? I'll happily send you £3 for one of the kits.
