CRS water treatment question

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

CRS water treatment question

I posted a question here recently regarding odd phenolic taste to my beer. One approach to try and solve this issue, is that I am going to treate my water with CRS, I have an average carbonate level of 189ppm. I am concerned with the amount of Chlorine in my water (dont officialy know the level of Chlorine) as I understand that this could be causing the phenolic taste. So my question is should I boil off my water before treating with CRS in order to reduce the Chlorine level? I have read the sticky on water treatment which pushed me towards CRS water treatment but am a virgin when it comes to treating water. One other option is a campden tablet, I have never used them and dont realy appreciate what they do or how they benifit the brewing process.
As always you advice and guidence is much appreciated.
