(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

Is it safe to condition water a few days in advance of when you want to use it? I was planning on decanting 5g of water into a barrel with a campden tablet for use this weekend. I'm not going to be around here much for the rest of the week.
Is this safe, or ill advised?

As the reaction between the Chlorine and sodium metabisulphite is almost instant I cannot see any benefit.
Also if you neutralise the chlorine that is at present making the water sanitary wouldn't you run the risk of bacterial growth

I wouldn't do it unless all the water was going to be boiled. As TS says, once the chlorine's gone, there's nothing stopping bacteria living in the water (though they won't have much to feed on till you give them your malt sugars.

Does campden tablets work in warm water as i put 2 tabs in 130 Litres. I run it with a food grade hose from my combi at full heat to my HLT in my shed so i don't need to heat from cold.

One campden tablet in 5 grammes of water sounds a bit high
