Mash ph

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

I have very soft water...so need to add ca carbonate.I tend to find my start mash ph Is much lower than my end mash ph. Is this because calcium carbonate takes a while to dissolve.

Yeah, but most people will tell you it goes the other way... I only use calcium carbonate for stouts, can't say I've ever noticed the pH rising during the mash.
